And the moon rises again... it's my favorite when it rises over this range of the mountains! There's a bit of beauty and mystery when it comes up over these peaks. It moves so quick, don't look away, or you'll miss it and the magic is gone.

Fall Drive

My favorite time of year is autumn, when the leaves change colors, and the temperatures drop. Nothing is quite as relaxing or calming to the soul.

Smokey skies while fall arrives

This fall is arriving quickly after such a hot and dry summer. Instead of gorgeous blue skies as we venture out to explore the fall colors, the sky is filled with lingering smoke. The smoke is from fires around Utah, but also coming from the fires along the west coast. It makes for a drive where you keep windows rolled up and air circulating inside since the air is often a heavy smoke smell which is hard on the breathing, but I can only imagine it's nothing compared to what those close to the fires are experiencing. We keep all those impacted by these fires in our thoughts.

The first peek at snow. The mountains are an amazing place, full of canyons, peaks, creating endless shadows and places for nature to create a beautiful scene.

Winter is around the corner... before we know it, these mountains will be covered in beautiful fluffy snow!

Spring taking over the mountain

Spring is here on the mountain! Feels like a centure since last spring when everything was covered in lush and vibrant green. One of my favorite times of year in the mountains, and you can just smell the fresh air. This particular morning,, clouds were scattered and getting dark, but it never did rain. Instead we wound up with pockets of sunshine coming through in the perfect spots.

The morning of sunshine after a day of a massive winter storm is a welcome site when there is sunshine and blue skies! The peaks have a fresh layer of snow!

Standing After the Storm

Yesterday we had a storm that just never seemed to end. More and more snow continued to fall, and the winds howled. This morning, the storm had passed, and we were left with some intense mornin glight and freshly coated mountain snow.

A sky so explosive with color it was hard to look away even just to take a photo. With the sun setting, the color and light angles on the mountain changed every second. Evenings like this, I just take in this view... and all the worries in the world are forgotten, just for those few moments.

Beautiful winter sunrise, with the sun rising about the mountains just to the east of this peak, slowly blowing up the sky with color and vibrance. It was one of those mornings that you witness and just are grateful to see, and you know it's going to be a good day!
