Fall is here, and it's showing us how good it can be to let go.

Fall Drive

My favorite time of year is autumn, when the leaves change colors, and the temperatures drop. Nothing is quite as relaxing or calming to the soul.

Smokey skies while fall arrives

This fall is arriving quickly after such a hot and dry summer. Instead of gorgeous blue skies as we venture out to explore the fall colors, the sky is filled with lingering smoke. The smoke is from fires around Utah, but also coming from the fires along the west coast. It makes for a drive where you keep windows rolled up and air circulating inside since the air is often a heavy smoke smell which is hard on the breathing, but I can only imagine it's nothing compared to what those close to the fires are experiencing. We keep all those impacted by these fires in our thoughts.

Many think of Autumn as a time for bold and vibrant colors but the clouds that were present this day, and the chill in the air, called for a little less bold, and a bit more moody.

Nestled in the trees in mid September there's a bit of reds and yellows amongst the greens.

Looking back west in this canyon, the towering sides just hang over you, scattered with trees and little waterfalls.

The colors have been really intersting this fall season. There are a number of areas that changed quickly over a matter of days to these vibrant colors. Then there are patches (not in this photo) that haven't changed just yet. With every trip up these canyons, the colors change each time. Upper Big Cottonwood Canyon, Wasatch Mountain Range, Utah.

Every which way you turn or look, there's a gorgeous view up Provo Canyon, Utah. The steep granite cliffs tower over you as the river flows below. Nature at it's best right here in Utah.

Fall in Utah is an incredibly beautiful time. Although the colors have only started to change when this was taken, it still shows the brilliance of the colors in the Utah Mountains. Taken September 16, 2018 on the Alpine Loop.
